Il Fiorello celebrates lavender June 22 and 23, 2019

During the lavender harvest season later this month, on one deliciously fragrant weekend, six farms that comprise the Solano-Yolo Lavender Trail will come together to celebrate.

The  Lavender Weekend June 22 and 23 brings together dedicated farmers who share a passion for all things lavender, and a gift for nurturing the land. Visitors are invited to meander through local lavender fields and participate in hands-on lavender classes and demonstrations ranging from art to aromatherapy and culinarily to ornamental uses. Fairfield’s Il Fiorello Olive Oil Company is one of the participating farms, and owners Ann and Mark Sievers have an exciting weekend filled with delicious lavender-inspired foods, workshops and crafts.

On both June 22 and June 23, guests to the Fairfield property on Mankas Corner Road can enjoy refreshing  Lavender Lemonade, a Lavender Ale from Ruhstaller Brewing, Lavender Gelato from LeoLeo Gelato, and Sweet and Salty Lavender Popcorn.  Il Fiorello’s Kitchen in the Groves chefs are preparing a delectable lavender-inspired gourmet lunch that will be served on the covered back patio from 11 am to 1:30 pm both days. The menu includes farm egg frittata with local goat cheese, herves de Provence, baby spinach and Yukon potatoes, served with a salad of summer greens, tomatoes, dried cranberries and focaccia croutons with a Malbec-Lavender vinaigrette.  Lunch is $15 per person and select wine and beer will also be available to purchase.

Il Fiorello’s lavender filled weekend will also include a lavender crown workshop, a lavender wreath workshop, a lavender sugar scrub workshop, a lavender wet felted art class, a lavender felted soap class, and a lavender wine glass painting class. Knowledgeable growers and producers will be on hand to offer information on the science and art of lavender growing. Living lavender plants to pot and take as well as fresh bouquets will “surprise and delight in an unforgettable lavender experience that focuses on agriculture, community, and family,” Il Fiorello wrote on its website.
