It may be hard to believe with our warm temperatures outside, but fall is really on the way, and with it comes one of our favorite October events - the Pumpkin Patch Festival at the Western Railway Museum.
The Western Railway Museum is set to open its annual Pumpkin Patch Festival on Oct. 7, and it will be open every Saturday and Sunday, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., through Oct. 22.
Get your Halloween pumpkins and Jack-o-Lanterns, test your strength with the pumpkin launcher, explore the huge hay bale fortress, and spend a great day at the Pumpkin Patch! The festival is a favorite for families locally and throughout Northern California.
All guests will begin their adventure at the Western Railway Museum. Doors open at 9:30 a.m. every weekend. The first electric express train leaves for 'Gum Grove' at 10 a.m. with departures every half-hour until 4pm.
Admission is good all day and includes all scheduled rides:
Adults – $14
Seniors (over 65) – $12
Children (2-14) – $10
Museum members will receive discounted admission
At the Pumpkin Patch, you can purchase your pumpkins, as well as snacks, drinks and other home-made specialties (cash only please.) Additional activities are included in your ticket price, such as tractor rides and the giant hay bale fortress! All proceeds benefit the Western Railway Museum (a nonprofit educational institution) and the local Rotary Clubs who provide thousands of dollars to local community and youth activities each year.
With over 50 historic cars on display, 22 miles of track and 22 acres the Western Railway Museum is ideal for families and group outings. The Museum features historic railway exhibits, vintage streetcar and interurban train rides, a large shaded picnic grounds, the Museum Store, library archives, and Depot Cafe. The museum is open weekends year-round, 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. (with special hours for the Pumpkin Patch Festival.)
