It's time to celebrate the tomato!

The 26th annual Fairfield Tomato Festival is this weekend in downtown Fairfield! Produced by the Fairfield Main Street Association, the Tomato Festival is expected to draw as many as 25,000 visitors to Fairfield's historic downtown Saturday and Sunday.  Activities and entertainment are planned throughout the weekend and include tomato samples and a farmers market in Tomato Alley, live music on two stages, a classic car show on Sunday, unique vendors, and a carnival with rides and midway games open Aug. 18-20. Taste fried green tomatoes,  tomato ice cream and an assortment of heirloom tomatoes all grown locally in our region. Tomato eating contests for children and adults are planned for both days.  There are also several tomato cooking contests, all hosted by Il Fiorello Olive Oil Company.

The Fairfield Suisun Chamber of Commerce is organizing the VIP Wine, Food & Brew Aug. 19 at the Solano County Events Center. This delicious experience brings local wineries, breweries, and food establishments together for the community to enjoy. Tickets are $45 in advance and $50 at the door.

The carnival will open at 3 p.m. on Friday Aug. 18. Pre-sale all-day ride wristbands are available at the Fairfield Main Street Association office for $20 each. Once the carnival opens, the wristbands are $25.
