Discover beautiful Suisun Valley
The beautiful Suisun Valley and its neighbor Green Valley are two of Solano County’s hidden treasures. Few travelers driving Interstate 80 between Sacramento and San Francisco realize that just mere miles from the Fairfield city limits is a thriving wine country, where acres of grapevines grow amid a backdrop of rolling hills and blue skies.
This is a place for visitors searching for world-class wines, home grown farm products and calm and beautiful farm country. On the side roads of this thriving wine region, there is more traffic from wild turkeys and squirrels than cars. Family-owned farms dot the area, where locals are known to grow a variety of fruits and vegetables alongside acres of grapevines. Many of the area wineries have their own tasting rooms on their properties. Visitors come from near and far to Suisun Valley and Green Valley to sample the delectable wines that are produced here. Altogether, Suisun Valley is home to nine wineries, where vineyards grow nearly two dozen wine-grape varieties. But this beautiful region offers so much more than just wine. As Solano Magazine writer Jeannie Howard wrote, “all year long, there is something for everyone, from the variety of wineries, quaint restaurants, the farm stands and u-pick farms, unique shops and cozy bed and breakfasts.” Whether you come for the day or stay for the weekend, the beauty in these valleys will leave you wanting more.
Suisun Valley's farm stands and shops include Larry's Produce, Erickson Ranch Produce Stand and Dhalia Garden, Castaneda Bros Produce, Cal Yee Farms, and Shooting Star CSA. Most open in May or June and are open through November or December. Cal Yee is open year-round. These popular stands offer fresh produce for sale, u-pick crops, jams, assorted nuts, pumpkins and other Halloween activities and more.
