Several thousand people are expected to line downtown's Texas Street Sunday for the Fairfield Main Street Association's Veterans Day Parade.
The downtown association is partnering with the American Legion to plan the Veterans Day Commemoration Ceremony and Parade. The day will begin at 10 a.m. with a patriotic concert by Alive Music Orchestra and the Ceremony of Remembrance inside the Downtown Theatre, at 1035 Texas Street. The concert is free and all ages are welcome. The parade will begin at 12:30 p.m. The parade route will travel through downtown along Texas Street, with the reviewing stand set up at Texas and Madison Streets.
This year's theme will celebrate the 75th anniversary of Travis Air Force Base.
There are over 60 parade entries for this year's event. These include military and color guards, elected officials, floats, mounted horse units, youth groups, middle school and high school band and ROTC units, classic cars, and more. Travis Air Force Base will provide a flyover at the beginning of the parade, and airmen and the Band of the Golden West will be walking the route.
The parade awards ceremony is scheduled for Thursday, November 15 at 6 p.m. at the City of Fairfield Council Chambers, 1000 Webster Street.
