The Fairfield Farmers Market is OPEN for the 2017 season!
Fairfield Mayor Harry Price joined the Fairfield Main Street Association at the ribbon cutting on Thursday, May 3 on the county lawn. Prior to cutting the ribbon, Price, standing next to Margaret Manzo, the executive director of the Main Street Association, commented on the aircraft that have been spotted above throughout the week (preparing for the Wings Over Solano air show) and said the planes were "sounding the alarm" that the market is now open.
The market will be open every Thursday, from 3 pm to 7 pm, through the beginning of October. Due to the record rainfall this winter, the crops are a little slow coming in, Manzo said. She expects to see the peaches and berries in the next few weeks. Strawberries should be out by Thursday. The opening market included an assortment of vegetables, as well as sweet oranges and cherries.
