Thousands gathered in downtown Fairfield on Friday, July 4, dressed in red, white and blue and proudly waving American flags, for the annual Independence Day Parade hosted by the Fairfield Main Street Association. The parade, themed "Stars and Stripes Forever," featured over 60 entries, ranging from youth groups and non-profits to civic leaders and businesses. A Delta breeze provided the perfect backdrop for this beautiful summer morning downtown as the parade made its way down Texas Street to a cheering crowd.

As you can tell by the big smiles in the photos below, the event was a huge success. Chapkis Dance won the big prize of the parade, as the judges' "Best Overall Favorite" entry.  Republic Services – Solano Garbage Company won for the best portrayal of the theme. All the winners will be honored Friday, July 11 at 6 p.m. in the city council chambers at Fairfield City Hall.
