The tomato will be front and center in Fairfield this month as the beloved Fairfield Tomato Festival returns to downtown Aug. 18 and 19!
This year marks the 27th Annual Tomato Festival in downtown Fairfield. The festival is produced by the Fairfield Main Street Association and draws more than 25,000 visitors to Fairfield’s historic downtown. This year’s festival l is celebrating the community's agricultural heritage by adding Vines! Visitors will see more fresh produce options including grapes and melons.
The Tomato & Vine Festival celebrates Fairfield and Solano County's rich agriculture history. Activities and entertainment are planned throughout the weekend. Enjoy tomato samples and a farmers market in Tomato Alley at Jackson and Texas Street, live music on two stages, a classic car show Aug. 19, unique vendors, and a carnival with rides and midway games open Aug. 17-19. Taste fried green tomatoes, tomato ice cream, tomato jam, and an assortment of heirloom tomatoes all grown locally in our region. Tomato eating contests for children and adults are planned for both days. Heirloom Tomatoes and other fresh produce will be available for purchase. There are also several tomato cooking contestsl hosted by Il Fiorello Olive Oil Company. Visit Il Fiorello's website to learn more about the cooking contests and how you can participate.
Back by popular demand is the VIP Wine, Food, and Brew Aug. 18 at the Solano County Events Center. This delicious experience will include food tastings and pairings from 13 restaurants, eight wineries, and five breweries. This event is hosted by the Fairfield-Suisun Chamber of Commerce and tickets are required. Tickets are $50 online or at the door and $45 cash or check. A limited number is available and guests are encouraged to purchase early. You can purchase tickets here or visit the chamber office at 1111 Webster Street, Fairfield.
A carnival with rides and midway games will be set up on the county lawn at Jefferson and Texas. The carnival will open at approximately 3 p.m. Friday, Aug. 17. Discount pre-sale all-day ride wristbands are available for $20 at the Fairfield Main Street Association office at Fairfield City Hall (1000 Webster Street) and will be $25 during the festival. Get your all-day wrist band in advance and save! Individual ride tickets will also be available to purchase during the festival. Don’t miss the First Responders’ vehicle displays and demos on Saturday and the Classic Car Show on Sunday. Car show entry information is available on the Fairfield Main Street Association's website.
The weekend festival will also incude back-to-back live music on two stages. Enjoy performances from Rhythm Method 4, Roberta Donnay & the Prohibition Mob, The Desert Moon Band, Eddie Davis & Friends, Hey Jude, Papa Joe & the New Deal, Jeri & el Kombo Classiko, Matt Applin & the Midnite Band, and Otta-Kontrol. The Community Stage area features youth performances, tomato eating contests, and award presentations.
