On Saturday, April 25th, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., the Rush Ranch Educational Council will host the 25th Annual Rush Ranch Open House. The first open house took place in 1991, three years after Solano Land Trust purchased the property. Since that time, Rush Ranch has become locally loved and nationally famous.

The annual open house is FREE and fun for all the family. Throughout the day, ranchers and artisans give demonstrations of roping, horseshoeing, wool spinning, and wheat weaving. Visitors are invited to ride around the ranch in a horse-drawn wagon, enjoy old-time music, take a guided walk along the marsh, and learn about the natural and cultural history of the ranch. Guests can admire live animals on display, including bats, birds of prey, horses, cows, and sheep, and build their very own nest boxes for American Kestrels, a small, colorful falcon often seen at the ranch.

At the Rush Ranch Chuckwagon, volunteers will sell hot dogs and burgers hot off the grill for $1.50 and $2.50, respectively. In the Nature Center, local artists will host a silent auction and sell arts and crafts including jewelry, photographs, greeting cards, books, and decorative items made of wood and metal. In the courtyard, raffle tickets for over a dozen different prizes will be available for $0.25 each or five for $1. All proceeds from the open house benefit the Rush Ranch Educational Council, an all-volunteer organization that provides educational programs and public outreach for the ranch. Rush Ranch is located at 3521 Grizzly Island Road, two miles south of Highway 12 and Suisun City.
