Ahh, Tax Day. The hard truth is you either love it or you hate it – there is really no in between.
Tax Day was extended this year to April 17, which gives taxpayers two additional days to file their returns. It's estimated that 153 MILLION individual tax returns will be filed in 2017. If you haven't filed your taxes yet, you're really, REALLY going down to the wire. But look on the bright side: it is estimated that 70 percent of US taxpayers will receive a federal refund this year!
The average tax refund is $2,897 and most receive those refunds within weeks of filing their taxes. It’s quicker still for the estimated 88 percent of people who file electronically and are paid through direct deposit to the bank. Whether you need to pay a bill, plan a vacation or make a big household purchase – that’s a nice chunk of change for many taxpayers. But if you are one of the 30 percent who owe this year, you’re likely humming a much different tune this Tax Day. The amount you owe can be hard to swallow, but we have something here in Fairfield and Suisun Valley to help – wine. Lots and lots of wine.
Suisun Valley and Green Valley are home to a dozen tasting rooms. Looking for one open on Monday or Tuesday? Cheers! We have seven!
Wooden Valley Winery, G V Cellars, BackRoad Vines, Il Fiorello Olive Oil Company, Vezer Family Vineyard’s Mankas Corner and Blue Victorian, and Sonoma Harvest are all open seven days a week. Also open today is Jelly Belly's Wine & Chocolate Experience, where you can pair your wine with delicious confections made in the Fairfield factory.
