Suisun Valley Harvest Trails

STEP OFF THE BEATEN PATH TRAVELED BY SO MANY AND VENTURE ON TO THE BACK ROADS OF FAIRFIELD TO OUR BEAUTIFUL SUISUN VALLEY

A short drive past housing, shopping, and golf developments you’ll find Suisun Valley, a beautiful region bounded by two coastal ranges.  The Suisun Valley has roots dating back to the 1800s and represents more than a century of continuous wine grape growing activity.  Classified as an American Viticulture Area (AVA) by the federal government since 1982, there are now well over two dozen growers with grapevines planted in our soil.

Long considered one of Northern California’s hidden treasures, Suisun Valley and its neighbor Green Valley are neighbors to the world famous Napa Valley – but you won’t find the crowds and traffic jams in this peaceful region. On the side roads of this small but thriving wine country, there is more traffic from squirrels, birds, peacocks and the occasional bicyclist than cars.

Wineries with tasting rooms include Wooden Valley Winery, BackRoad Vines, Il Fiorello Olive Oil Company, Vezer Family Vineyard’s Mankas Gardens and the Blue Victorian, Mangels Vineyard and the Suisun Valley Wine Co-op, which offers tastings from Blacksmith Cellars, King Andrews Vineyards and Sunset Cellars.   Nearby Green Valley wineries with tasting rooms include GV Cellars, Rock Creek Vineyard and Galvan Family Cellars.

Complementing the wineries in the region are seasonal farm stands, u-pick produce and olive oil tasting.  Cal Yee Farms, specializing in nuts, dried fruit and other similar products, is open year-round. Larry’s Produce, one of the most popular farm stands in the region, is open from June-December every year. Other family-owned farms, like Erickson Ranch and Robledo Produce, are open from June through November.
